Real conversations, out loud

No matching pairs, no multiple choice. Order Brötchen from Bernd at the Bäckerei, check in with Herr Hoffmann at the hotel, grab a Pils at the Kneipe. Every scene is a real spoken conversation with an AI character who answers like a person would.

Subtitles follow along word by word, with the English underneath when you want it, and you can slow the voices down while you find your feet.

Characters remember you

Tell Moni about your job interview, and next time she'll ask how it went. Order the same thing twice and she'll start to know "your usual". People in town remember the gist of what you've told them, just like real people, and like real people they sometimes forget.

Moni remembers
  • You usually order a Pils
  • You had a job interview on Tuesday

Stuck? Ask Mia

Mia is your flatmate. She's bilingual in English and German, and she's on your side. She keeps track of the mistakes you make around town, goes over them with you at home, and brings them back at just the right time until they stick.

Nervous about a conversation? Rehearse it with her first.

duzen (verb)

to say du to someone, the friendly "you" in German.

In Germany you start with Sie, the polite "you", and only switch to du once you know someone. One day, someone asks "Wollen wir uns duzen?". That's when you know you've made a friend. In Duzen, friendships grow as your German does.
